Ghost Pencil Toppers / Finger Puppets
There are 2 styles listed here. The first has a front and back side. The second is round with no obvious front or back. They fit standard #2 pencils or toddler sized fingers.
Level: Easy
Stitches used: ch (chain), Magic Loop (or Ch 2 and work round 1 into second ch from hook), DC (double crochet), FPDC (front post double crochet), SC (single stitch), sl st (slip stitch)
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver – white
Hook: US size G (adjust hook size as needed so topper fits pencil)
Materials needed:
Embroidery needle
Black marker or small amount of black thread or yarn for eyes
Pattern:
*For a larger ghost, use a larger hook or add a stitch to each row.
Round 1 – Work 6 DC into Magic Loop, sl st to top of first DC (6)
Round 2 & 3 – Chain 2 (does not count as stitch), DC into each DC, sl st to top of ch 2 (6)
Ghost with front and back:
Round 4 – Ch 2, FPDC into next stitch from previous row, SC into same stitch, SC in next 3 DC’s, ch2, FPDC into next stitch from previous round, SC into same stitch and around to finish row, Fasten off, Weave in end.
Second version (no obvious front or back):
Round 4 – *2 SC in first DC, 1 SC in next DC* Repeat * to * 3 times to complete round (9)
Round 5 – SC in each SC, Fasten off, Weave in ends
Both versions:
Use black permanent or fabric marker or black thread to create eyes and mouth if desired.
